Leslie (Lawton) and I will be married 37 years come December 28th of this year. We have three children, Seth our oldest 32 is married to Fawn and they have our first grandchild, Wyeth, who will be 5 in January, 2009. Seth is a wine rep for a wine distribution company in Boulder were they reside. Seth worked with me in Durango in the real estate business for 5 years and decide he needed a little bit more steady paycheck. Then we have Joshua, 27 yo, he lives in Scottsdale, AZ. He works as a real estate investment broker. Skylar our daughter is 23 yo and recently got married last October, 2007. She is married to Ryan Masten and they live in Farmington, NM about 45 minutes from Durango. Skylar works as an Admissions Counselor at San Juan College and Ryan teaches high school English on the Navajo Reservation in Shiprock, NM.
Leslie and I broke tradition and moved from Lawrence in 1978 after selling our portion of the business, University Floral, who we were in partnership with Leslie's brother, Chad, and wife. Our travels took us to Albuquerque, NM where I worked with the University of New Mexico on a NASA grant, the same type of grant I worked on at KU for 7 years. Leslie worked as a traveling art teacher on several of the Indian reservations in NM. I also worked in Santa Fe. We moved to Durango in 1993 where I took a position to teach at Lewis College, geographic information systems (GIS). I did a bit of GIS consulting and then jumped into real estate as a broker for the last 10 years. It's been great living in Durango and doing real estate but I haven't quite figured out what I really want to do when I grow up!
