I've lived in south Florida since 1983, working in the intersection of technology, education and communication.
Currently I'm VP of education for a multinational company in suburban DC, but I work from my home in a Miami suburb and travel a lot.
Since 1981 I've been married to Bill Oates. We each earned a PhD degree in mass communication at Indiana University and shared a column for 7 years in South
Florida Parenting magazine. He's an editor at the Miami Herald today.
Our daughter, Liz, graduated from IU and works for Royal Caribbean as a revenue management analyst in Miami. Our son, Daniel, studies physics, math and economics at IU.
My brother Dan is still in the house I grew up in on University Drive. My mom lives on the KU campus in Sprague Apartments.
