Graveside services for Robert A. 'Bob' Whitley, 39, Lawrence were to be held at 1:30 p.m. today at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial services will be held at a later date in Elkland, PA.
Mr. Whitley was found dead at his home on Thursday, August 25, 1990. He apparently died of natural causes. Deputy Coroner Alan Sanders said Mr. Whitley had been dead approximately two weeks and that autopsy results were incomplete pending toxicology reports.
He was born October 14, 1950, in Dallas. He was a 1968 graduate of Lawrence High School and received a Bachelor's degree in architecture from Kansas University in 1972. He had lived in Lawrence for the past eight months, moving here from Pittsburgh. He was an architect and draftsman, and had worked for firms in Dallas, Pittsburgh, and Santa Barbara, CA before returning to Lawrence.
Mr. Whitley was a member of the Kansas University Alumni Association and attended St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Survivors include his mother, Marguerite Whitley, Elkland, PA; his step-mother, Norma Whitley, Overland Park; a brother, Richard, Los Angeles; four sisters, Penny Whitley, Lee's Summit, MO, Jill Whitley-Garrison, Colorado Springs, CO, Susan Peters, Pittsburgh, and Wendy Whitley, Painted Post, NY, and a step-sister, Mindy Albright, Kansas City, KS.
